Johan Nylander says:
In Bingsjö I found the inspiration to play the violin. All my life, my
family has spent our free times in Bingsjö. My father was born there
and my grandparents lived there all their lives. The music, played by
the musicians Päkkos Gustaf and Päckos Helmer, was always present for
me, even before I began playing. I began to learn songs from Gustav in
1996 and played regularly with him until his death in 2000. The tunes
from Bingsjö are, in these ways, my grounding repertoire. I also
played with Jonny Soling and Kalle Almlöf at the Malung Folk High
School in 1997-98 and I've played a lot together with Per Gudmundson,
Anders Bjernulf and with my wife Jenny Täpp Nylander. In 2003, I
earned Zorn Silver, and became Riksspelman. I have been involved as a
musician at festivals in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. I teach social studies and
religious studies in high school and also have some opportunity to
teach folk music there.
